The Script Department
Our Mission:

The Script Department is a collective of story analysts who also just happen to be writers. We are privy to the way scripts are analyzed by agents and producers. And with multiple managers, options, rewrites and sales between us, we have sat on both sides of the desk.

It's simple, really - we are writers so we care about writers. You will develop a working relationship with your story analyst and he or she will get to know you, your script and your writing very well. To us, every client is a unique individual deserving of our full attention. That means a level of detail and attention in the notes you receive that are unsurpassed.

Only the best analysts work at The Script Department. Each is invested in the success of our writers and the direction of our collective. Because to us, this is personal.

Our Track Record:

The Script Department has successfully coached hundreds of writers toward reaching their goals. Our clients have placed in competitions like The Blue Cat Screenwriting Competition, The Page International Screenwriting Competition, The Creative Screenwriting Competition, The Austin Film Festival Screenwriting Competition and the Warner Brother's Television Fellowship. Some Testimonials:

Being congenitally impatient I used the Script Department overnight service, and was very pleased that the fast turnaround meant no compromise on quality, as Julie had obviously read with care, combining overall notes that hit the nail on the head with specific constructive and creative suggestions as to fixes and alternatives. Thanks so much.

- Paul Smith, writer, London ('Smith & Jones', 'Bootleg', 'Murder Most Horrid', 'Grange Hill', BBC1 Afternoon Play)

They say it only takes one person in this town to believe in you for other doors to open. You have been that person. You raised the level of my game.

-Paul Vincent Fusco, author of SOLDIERS OF THE DEAD

After working with several other script analyst services, yours truly delivered the goods! Not only did you point out so many errors which others had missed, but you also volunteered critical plot point changes which I feel enhances the overall impact of the story. I found every single suggestion valid and being the writer, was too close to the material. Writing can be a lonely venture, and you made it seem that I had someone on my team to guide me into the right direction when I drifted off course. I definitely plan on using your services in the near future on other screenplays. Margaux Froley, you not only have my thanks but my commendation.

I recently took the plunge and sent my first screenplay to Bart. I'm guessing it was painful for him, and certainly it was beneficial for me. I knew my script was confusing. Now I know exactly where and why. I had reached a point of seeing things that were no longer there and was subsequently losing my reader at key moments. Bart hit a magnitude of nails on the head. I found his comments and fresh perspective well worth the money. Thank you Script Department and thank you Bart.

Dave Sparling rocks. I got my notes back within a week and they were spot on. I knew everything he said was right because I could see the benefit to my story immediately. His experience makes him a go-to guy. Thank you, Dave, you're the best.

-Pete Wilks

Andrew was amazing. I've tried other services but the notes I received were vague and in some cases, it almost seemed as if the reader didn't read my script carefully. Andrew not only gave me great notes that were very thorough, he gave me suggestions and pointers. I used his notes and wound up with a great draft. He made me a better writer and gave me a better script. It was a great investment and I'll definitely go back to the Script Department.
