"Whether your script needs minor repairs or major reconstruction,
Kevin Walsh can help breathe life into flat characters and make your story
turn on a dime. He examines each story with an architect's eye, making sure
each beat is structurally sound, aesthetically pleasing and grounded in
a solid foundation. If you want to know how your script stacks up in the
marketplace, call Kevin - the working writer's Joseph Campbell."
-- Chris Morgan, Screenwriter (Cellular, The Fast and the Furious 3:
Tokyo Drift)
WHO AM I?
I am a professional writer and story analyst with ten years of development
experience at several entertainment companies in Los Angeles, chiefly DREAMWORKS
SKG. I have a degree from the University of Southern California School of
Cinema-Television and have written for features, television and the Internet.
I co-wrote THE RALLY, in development at Warner Bros., as well as several
spec screenplays, including MERLIN'S APPRENTICE (3rd prize, Applause Screenplay
Competition; Semi-Finalist, Writemovies Contest) and CAPTAIN COMET (Quarter-Finalist,
Fade In Awards). I also worked as a staff writer for the music-comedy show
ROSE CITY ROCKS (Parker Media Productions), as well as NATIONAL LAMPOON
ONLINE and MONDO MEDIA on the Web.
As a story analyst, I've covered thousands of submissions ranging from
screenplays to teleplays to manuscripts to graphic novels. And I have generated
hundreds of pages of studio notes on produced projects including ROAD TO
PERDITION, GALAXY QUEST, THE TIME MACHINE, RED EYE, THE ISLAND and THE LEGEND
OF ZORRO.
Additionally, I've taught a course on coverage at Dreamworks and served
as a judge for the Carnegie-Mellon Screenwriting Contest, as well as a guest
lecturer for the Columbia College of Chicago Screenwriting Course.
With a decade of experience at the finest companies in Hollywood, I am
able to provide a professional, honest and realistic assessment of how your
script measures up to industry standards -- as well as feedback to help
you develop your writing towards the ultimate goal of a professional sale.
WHAT DO I OFFER?
Currently, I offer two levels of private consultation:
COVERAGE -- 3-5 pages in studio format that gives you a thumbnail diagnostic
of how your script measures up to current industry standards. $100
NOTES -- An in-depth 8-12 pages that fully engages all of the key elements
of your screenplay, noting strengths, pointing out weaknesses, and offering
specific questions and guidance to maximize your script's potential. $400
All of the details about my services and coverage in general can be found
at www.SpasticWeasel.com, along
with my complete professional bio and further testimonials from satisfied
customers.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
Books:
SCREENPLAY by Syd Field
ADVENTURES IN THE SCREEN TRADE by William Goldman
SCREENWRITERS ON SCREENWRITING by Joel Engel
Software:
In my opinion, most formatting software just boils down to personal preference.
And while there are several programs on the market to help you break down
your story, I've always opted for the hands-on approach of a pile of index
cards, a Sharpie and a lot of floor space
